Everest Base Camp Trek

from € 3300

"We will take the mythical path, through sherpa villages and cities, staying at storied teahouses, where pioneers planned the impossible and in whose footsteps we follow to the world’s most famous starting point

A journey here is not simply of the physical, but at once emotional, historical and spiritual. Flags in bright colours honour those whose spirit flies amongst the clouds and carries us on our journey toward the great, revered Chomolungma (mother goddess of the earth), whom we now call Everest."

In Kathmandu Hotel Butsugen Our journey starts and finishes in authentic Kathmandu. We stay at Hotel Butsugen, a family-run hotel in the Bouddhanath district. Our hotel is a 2-minute walk from Boudha Stupa, one of the world’s largest Buddhist stupas and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Cheetan and Diki are our hosts, and we couldn't hope for better ones. Their kindness is a sign of things to come on our journey, and they are always on hand to give tips and help plan trips throughout the district and further afield. Many companies stay in the main tourist district, Thamel, but we wanted something that spoke to a truer sense of this magical city. At Citizens of the Wild, we believe that those who seek will find, and how lucky we were to find this gem. Our journey from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp takes us higher into the majestic Himalayas. We stay in traditional tea houses (Nepalese mountain lodges) in various villages. These family-run accommodations offer authentic local culture and hospitality, providing a warm, home-like atmosphere. Enjoy delicious, locally-sourced traditional Nepalese cuisine to keep you nourished for the trek. As we climb, tea houses become more rustic, reflecting the remoteness, while the lower villages offer more amenities. Staying in tea houses allows us to immerse in local life, interact with villagers, and understand Khumbu Valley culture. Citizens of the Wild ensures you experience the true warmth and hospitality of Nepalese people, making your trek unforgettable.
